Strengthen professional capacity to act (right from the start)
Ein Design-Based-Research-Projekt zur Ausbildung angehender Lehrpersonen in der Schulpädagogik
As a sub-discipline of educational science, school pedagogy is a central component of teacher training in Hamburg, which sensitises students to the complexity of teachers' tasks. The school pedagogy module, which is started by around 450 students each year, consists of the lecture "Introduction to the basics of school pedagogy" and the seminar "In-depth examination of topics in school pedagogy", which is conducted in parallel by around seven (university) lecturers in several seminar groups. The module concludes with an oral tandem examination.
As part of a design-based research project, we are developing the in-depth seminar in particular as part of a co-operation between the School Education department and the HUL. The project is based on the question of how coursework in the specialisation seminar can support students in using helpful learning and working strategies at an early stage and becoming professionally capable of acting (e.g. by making use of options, linking content in a meaningful way, cooperation). Preliminary design principles, which are implemented in all seminar groups and then further developed on the basis of (theoretical) reflection and data analyses, form the basis of the joint work. The end result should be design principles that can also serve as inspiration and orientation for other teachers in teacher training programmes.
The HUL primarily plays a moderating role in the project, provides impulses and instruments for reflection in relation to DBR as the chosen research framework and supports documentation and analyses. The cooperation takes place as a pilot project within the framework of the HUL cooperation programmes on science didactics, which combine university didactics research, teaching development and qualification at the University of Hamburg.
