Certificate: Start of teaching

50 AE

For those taking on teaching responsibilities for the first time
Two semesters: 3-day introductory workshop (at the end of September each year), continuous group work in the following semester

Certificate of Higher Education

100 AE

For lecturers of all experience levels
Attend selected workshops from five content categories
Flexible scheduling with a subsequent final course

Certificate: Start of teaching 50 AE

For those taking on teaching responsibilities for the first time
The program comprises a total of 50 AE (work units of 45 minutes each).
At the beginning, you will attend the three-day workshop "New in Teaching – Introduction to Research-Oriented Teaching, Leading, and Assessing" (24 AE).
This workshop is offered once a year at the end of the summer semester.
Registration: You can decide during the workshop whether to pursue certification by continuing your work in the following semester.
In the following semester, you will continue working in a group. Accompanied by your instructor, you will deepen your expertise through classroom observation, written reflections, and group exchanges (26 AE).
If you later decide to enroll in the HUL Didactics Certificate, the certified teaching start with 50 AE can be recognized for this purpose.

Certificate: Teaching 100 AE

For instructors of all experience levels
The Didactics Certificate comprises a total of 100 AE (work units of 45 minutes each).
You will attend workshops (a total of 84 AE) from these 5 content categories in any order and weighting (at least 8 AE from each category):
1. Designing Teaching
2. Developing Methods
3. Leading, Communicating, and Advising
4. Assessing and Providing Feedback
5. Reflecting on and Evaluating Teaching
Afterwards, you will participate in the two-day final course (16 AE), which is offered each semester.

If you have already started with the previous basic certificate, you can decide by the end of 2024 whether to complete the 100 work unit certificate in the new structure ("Didactics Certificate") or the old structure ("Basic Certificate").
