Research-based learning
Ideally, students at universities educate themselves by participating in research processes or at least understanding them and not simply adopting results. The associated didactic concept has a long tradition as research-based learning and can also be designed to meet new requirements (e.g. AI, sustainability, diversity). At HUL, research-based learning therefore has a firm place in research, teaching and higher education didactic qualification in equal measure

Transfer perspective
Knowledge transfer is fundamentally promoted in the research area of research-based learning: Our research projects in this area are strongly development-orientated - materials, handouts and models that we develop in the course of our research are used in qualification workshops at HUL. We offer counselling on research-based learning for the University of Hamburg.
With the Island of Research, we have also created our own website on which didactic materials on research-based learning are freely available for teachers, tutors and people involved in university didactics - the materials are barrier-free and some are also available in English.
We are also involved in the DGHD's Research-Based Learning working group.
