gAI and digital teaching
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the willingness to think about digital or hybrid teaching and learning has become widespread at universities. Among other things, this raises the question of what new skills teachers need in order to design their teaching with digital technologies in such a way that the desired learning objectives are achieved. The emergence of generative AI (genAI) in turn affects not only the methods, but also the teaching content, the forms of assessment and the curricula. From a research perspective, we at HUL are especially interested in how teaching, learning and writing are changing as a result of AI and what AI Literacy teachers and students need in order to deal with the new technology responsibly and without losing important skills.

Transfer perspective
The knowledge generated in the research projects on genAI and digital teaching is transferred directly into practice at HUL, for example in the fully online Master Higher Education. In the qualification area, teachers and tutors are trained and advised on digital topics and in particular on the use of generative AI.
A DBR project carried out as part of the DUTy project is developing a theoretical genAI Literacy concept and an OER repository with learning resources and didactic handouts on generative AI in higher education. The “AI Hands-On” event series brings together researchers, lecturers and staff from the Digital Teaching Services several times a year to discuss transfer and application potential in the field of generative AI and to explore selected topics in greater depth.
